ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY TEST OF SAMBANG GETIH LEAVES (Hemigraphis bicolor Boerl.) DECOCTION BY IN VITRO AND IN VIVO.

The purpose of this study is to determine the antioxidant activity from the sambang getih leaves decoction by in vitro (using DPPH method) and in vivo (using MDA plasma level from the mice which carried the treatment and in addition of swim exercise for 55 minutes in the 7th day). The antioxidant activity tests by in vitro were undertook by calculating the value IC50. Whereas the antioxidant activity tests by in vivo were executed by measuring the level of MDA plasma, that is, dividing 30 mice into six groups: normal group; negative control group; positive control group with a dose of 6,5 mg/kgBB of vitamin C; 1,95 g/kgBB dose group; 3,9 g/kgBB dose group; 7,8 g/kgBB dose group, for seven days. The result of in vitro shows that the value of IC50 sambang getih leaves decoction is accounted for 37,52 ppm and the value of vitamin C as positive control is accounted for 5,89 ppm, both of them are very active antioxidant. Meanwhile the result of in vivo shows that the MDA plasma level from the normal group is measured in the amount of 1,6577+0,5037 nmol/ml; the negative control group is measured in the amount of 5,6671+0,3008 nmol/ml; positive control group with a dose of 6,5 mg/kgBB of vitamin C is 1,4488+0,5945 nmol/ml; 1,95mg/kgBB dose group is 1,9980+0,2138 nmol/ml; 3,9 g/kgBB dose group is 1,4589+0,1812 nmol/ml; 7,8g/kgBB dose group is 0,8524+0,1933 nmol/ml. in conclusion, the MDA level dose group is not significantly different with the positive control group vitamin C.rn(F) Reference: 23 pieces (1991-2012)rn(G) Dra.
