Formulasi Kapsul Yang Mengandung Mikrokapsulekstrak Daun Cantigi (Vaccinium Varingiaefolium (Blume) Miq.) Sebagai Antioksidan
Antioxidants could inhibit or delay cell damage by donating one of their
electrons to free radicals. Cantigi leaves have a very strong antioxidant
activity because they contain flavonoid compounds. The purpose of this study
is to look at the antioxidant activity of microcapsules and capsules contaning
microcapsules from cantigi leaves extract. Microcapsules are prepared by
solvent evaporation method using ethyl cellulose as coating agent. The results
of antioxidant activity assay on cantigi leaves extract showed an IC50 value
of 17,51 ppm. The results of the physical evaluation of the microcapsules had
a light brown to dark brown color, granular shape, characteristic odor and an
oval to spheric morphology with a particle size of 0,1067 µm-0,2614 µm.
Microcapsule yields of the three formulas ranged from 77,66%-91,74%;
moisture content of the three formulas ranged from 3,67%-8,67%; entrapment
efficiency of the three formulas ranged from 73,18%-83,86%; drug loading
of the three formulas ranged from 28,29%-64,003%. The antioxidant activity
assay of the microcapsules showed that the IC50 values of the three formulas
consecutively at 0 week were 19,3 ppm; 27,19 ppm; 44,92 ppm and
consecutively at the 4
week were 22,75 ppm; 33,94 ppm; and 49,38 ppm.
Capsule preparations using cantigi leaves extract microcapsules as the core
substance were made with excipients such as aerosil (glidant) and avicel PH
102 (filler). Based off of the benefit as antioxidant, the best capsules were
found in formula 3 as seen from the IC50 value of 49.29 ppm ± 0.248 with the
average disintegration time = 7 minutes 19 seconds, the average weight =
214.3 mg, and the dissolution cumulative percentage for 60 minutes = 9.04%
± 0.065.
