(E) Sea grapes (C. racemosa) is one type of marine algae that lives spread in some
Indonesian waters that contain compounds such as phenols that have the
potential as antioxidants. This study aims to formulate a physically stable
ethosomal cream preparation and determine its antioxidant activity using the
DPPH method. Sea grapes were extracted with 96% ethanol solvent using
ultrasonication method then made ethosomal nanovesicles by cold method and
tested for characterization. After that the best formula of the ethosome is
formulated into a physically stable cream preparation. In this study, the IC50
value of sea grape extract was 70.20 bpj. Sea grape extract was formulated into
ethosomal nanovesicles into three different concentrations of
phosphatidylcholine namely 1% F1, 2% F2, and 3% F3. Then the best formula
was obtained on F3 with an absorption efficiency value of 97.83%, particle size
and polydispersity index of 151.8 nm and 0.392, spherical particle morphology
and potential zeta yield of -30.3 mV. Then from the best formula ethosome F3
formulated into an ethosomal cream preparation which was proven to have an
IC50 value of 126.49 bpj, then the cream was observed evaluation and physical
stability of the preparation, where sea grape extract cream was used as a control.
The results of the physical stability test of the cream include mechanical tests,
cycling tests, and stability tests on temperature differences, where the results of
each physical stability test of the cream show a physically stable cream.
