ACTIVITY IN RAT GIVEN DOXORUBICIN
(C) Limau peel (Citrus amblycarpa) contains flavonoid that has antioxidant
activity. This study aimed to test the nephroprotective effect of 70% ethanol
extract of limau peel on malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and catalase (CAT)
activity in rat’s kidney given doxorubicin. In this study, rats were divided into
5 groups : normal, negative, and 3 grade of doses groups of 70% ethanol
extract dose (100; 200; 400 mg/kgBB) given along with doxorubicin 4
mg/kgBB day 2, 6, 10 and 14. The measurement of MDA level is using Wills
method while CAT is using Catalase Assay Kit from Elab Science. The result
of MDA levels in normal, negative and 3 grades doses are 3,6435 nmol/mL;
13,6847 nmol/mL; 9,2185 nmol/mL; 8,3578 nmol/mL; 3,8110 nmol/mL
respectively. The result of CAT activity in rat’s kidney in normal, negative
and 3 grades doses are 11,7 U/mL; 2,73 U/mL; 5,06 U/mL; 7,67 U/mL; 11,44
U/mL respectively. The conclusion of this study is ethanol extract 70% limau
peel (Citrus amblycarpa) has the potential antioxidant effect by lowering
levels of MDA and improving CAT activity.
